Ask yourself this question. Has there ever been a day when you haven’t worried about anything? Hmm… probably not, I'm guessing. Life is full of little worries and stresses, that it’s a wonder we get through the day with our sanity still attached.
We can tend to lose perspective, especially when we unflatteringly compare ourselves against somebody else, or have anxiety attacks about things that may not actually happen. Other worries are real. When our kids have been missing from the house for a long time, or there is a conflict with our partner, feeling worried is perfectly normal.
Here are three things that women often worry about, and some simple solutions that may offer you some relief.
1. Body weight
Listen up. You are beautiful, no matter what size you are, but in a society where we compare ourselves to catwalk models and have to deal with the body shaming attitudes of others, putting on extra pounds is something that can give us cause to worry.
Here are some tips on how to lose weight effectively, but don’t stress too much if you have increased a little in size. It’s normal, especially as we get older. However, being too overweight can lead to health issues, and that will cause you to worry more, so make an effort to change-up your lifestyle if you think there is real cause for concern.
2. Getting older
There is no elixir of life, no matter what the magazine ads promise us, so you have to face facts. You are going to get older, no matter how much you try to fight it. There are ways to fight the onset of aging, such as using creams on your face and making an effort to up your fitness levels, but age creeps up on us all.
Quite often, our biggest concern is that we haven’t achieved our goals when we reach a certain age, but it’s never too late to turn things around. If you haven’t achieved your dream job, for example, or you haven’t met the perfect man, lower your expectations or do something about it. It’s not that simple, of course, but if you want something you have never had before, you have to do something you have never done before, no matter how old you are.
3. Our children
It doesn’t matter how old our kids are; we will always worry about them. It’s a mother’s natural instinct to look after and protect them from whatever harsh realities the world throws their way.
Yet, sometimes we worry too much. Our tendency is to wrap them up in cotton wool, but that won’t help them. As your kids grow, you need to let go a little and let them experience life for themselves.
When they fall, literally or figuratively, they will learn to pick themselves up again, without you always rushing to be at their side. So, while you will never stop caring about them, it’s perfectly reasonable to stop being a worrywart and let up a little. They will only thank you for it later, when they have grown to become independent, and are able to live life without their anxious mom worrying about every tiny detail of their lives.
We hope you have a good and worry-free day. Take care.
