Thank you to Smokey Bones for providing me with a gift card in exchange for this honest blog review. All opinions are 100% my own.
Living in Virginia, there are not too many BBQ restaurants. We're mostly about Seafood and fast food. So, when you can find a good one, it's nice that it be affordable and within 30 minutes of driving distance.
That's where Smokey Bones comes in. Their food is delicious, close by, and affordable. Plus, they're family friendly. Going out to eat with kids can be such a hassle sometimes. It's good when they provide the activity sheet and crayons to keep them occupied until the food is ready. Although, since the boys are older, we have them bring a word search book to work on.
Family Friendly
Whether the restaurant doesn't provide kid menus or the majority of the restaurant is a bar, which isn't someplace you'd want to bring your children.
At Smokey Bones, they have kids' menus and yes, they do have a bar but it is off to one side and out-of-the-way. The restaurant part is the main centerpiece. Another plus is now that since they’ve banned smoking in public establishments, you don’t have to worry about it smelling like smoke or always walking into a smoke cloud.
Atmosphere
Before you make it inside you see this nice fire.
Upon walking in you are hit with delicious smells. You also notice how open the restaurant is.
There are booths and tables, the tables are spread out so you don’t have to worry about anyone blocking you trying to get in or out of your chair. Which isn't a big deal since it's a sit-down restaurant.
Delicious Food
Now onto the best part, the food. The food was delicious. My youngest ordered his usual, what he gets everywhere, which is a plain hamburger with ketchup and fries. For some reason, he will eat mac and cheese but won’t eat cheese any other way. My oldest got chicken tenders and fries.
My husband got their Texas-Style Beef Brisket and I got their BBQ Chicken and broccoli, their chicken was so juicy. The broccoli came out too hard for my taste, so I let the server know and she said that there are two kinds people order, the crunchy kind and the soft kind, so of course I asked for the soft kind.
Exceptionally fine dining. Nice atmosphere with 10 huge giant screen TV’s to view sports & other events. Excellent fare. The slow smoked prime rib is exceptional. Highly recommended. Price is not that high, and $10.00 coupon is always available.
