Make It The Last Time: Are You Prepared To Get Fit?

This post may contain affiliate links. If you click through and make a purchase, I may receive a commission (at no additional cost to you). What does this mean?

How many times do we promise ourselves to get in shape, only to find an excuse to do something else, or fail to achieve our goals in the right space of time? If you are like many others, you have been through this process more time than you can count.

You are probably also quite sick of it. Fortunately, there is nothing that says that you can’t achieve what you want to achieve the next time around. Just as long as you approach the whole matter in the right way, you should be able to get fit, keep fit and be happy about it.

So how can you effectively prepare better than you did before? It might be simpler than you think.

The Wardrobe

If you want to succeed in this, you will need to make sure that you are prepared in as many ways as possible. You can’t overlook any element of the whole, and that includes your wardrobe. It might sound strange, but having the right gym clothing can really make all the difference in the world.

For one thing, stocking up on workout clothes is like giving yourself a signal that you mean business this time around. But it also helps to get you into the right frame of mind when you are about to workout.

Psychologists call this phenomenon ‘anchoring’; attaching significance to an item or place, in this case linking the gym with your workout clothes. It really works; try it.

The Goal

We all know that having a goal can help you to actually get started in the first place. But you probably had a goal before, so who’s to say that it is going to be more effective this time? It is probable that your previous goals simply did not have the proper characteristics in order to be effective as actual goals.

A good goal is one which is clear, concrete, concise and kind. In other words, you know exactly what it states when you want to achieve it by, and it is both challenging and yet gentle enough on you that you can do it, and it remains in your grasp. If your goal is lacking any of these, try to adapt it so that it is much more effective. This in itself will inspire you to get up and running much more quickly.

The Partner

It is crazy how much more effective and enjoyable working out can be when you have someone to do it with. Even just someone cheering along on the sidelines can be useful, although not quite as beneficial. If you are serious about getting fit this time, then find an accountability partner who can exercise with you.

This is a great way to ensure that you both keep at it until you reach your goals, and you can use the competitive element between you to get there much faster too. Before you know it, you will be in a much better position than you have ever been before, and you will feel much better because of it.
