When you plan to begin your weight loss journey, you need to throw yourself into it if you want to succeed. Easing yourself in just keeps you surrounded by temptations and bad habits.
Getting ready by having the right things, the right mindset, and getting rid of all the bad stuff will give you a much better chance to succeed.
Workout Appointments
When you arrange your workouts, either at home or at the gym, book them like a doctor's appointment. That way, no matter how busy you are, you won’t be able not to go and do the workout. It takes some mental discipline, but it’s definitely worth it.
Tell Everyone
As annoying as it is to hear Sheila go one about how many times she goes to the gym, you need to become her. Telling people you’re going creates an expectation that you have to fulfill. It works even better if you have a friend going through the same thing, or one who is already a gym bunny. They’ll ask you how it went, and you can only honestly answer them if you actually go.
Gym Buddy
Not only will it help having someone to spot you, and to have someone to chat to and support you, you will also be creating another obligation. You have to go because you told them you would. It becomes a pact and a bond that you can’t break.
Get The Right Clothes
It’s no use heading to the gym in a bra, shirt, and joggers, with slippers on your feet. One – you’d look ridiculous. And two – you could actually cause yourself harm. Gym leggings and tops are built with breathable fabric so that you don’t overheat while working out. It also captures moisture – making those sweat patches less noticeable.
The right sports bra, particularly for the larger chested woman, is so important. You need that support so that you don’t injure your chest in any way. Footwear is important too. Your fashionable Nikes won’t cut it. You need a pair of trainers built for the gym, and if you’re running outside, you’ll need shoes built for that terrain.
The Right Gear
If you’re working out at home, you don’t need to buy all the high-tech equipment. But you should invest in some decent weights, mats, and a gym ball. This minimal equipment is all you need to get gymming at home.
Throw Out The Junk
Get rid of that food. Don’t just eat it until it’s run out. Don’t pop it to the back of the cupboard – just throw it out. Better yet, donate it to a homeless shelter so that it isn’t wasted. If the food is in the house, it’s also in the back of your mind slowly chipping away at your resolve. Get rid of the temptations and a lot of your bad habits will disappear with it.
