So Your Best Friend Just Had A Baby, What Do You Do Now?

Babies are always special, no matter who has them. If a celebrity has a baby and it makes the news, then it’s usually the only positive news story of that day. Of course, there’s no denying that babies are even more special when they happen much closer to home.

Best Friend Just Had A Baby

If you’re like me, then you’re probably going through the stage in your life when all your closest friends are popping out babies left, right, and center. I find it’s a bit of an awkward time for you when this happens as you don’t really know what your role is as the best friend. So, I came up with a few things you should do after your best friend has their baby!

Get Them A Useful Gift

Obviously, you need to get them a gift of some sort for their baby. Now, as a close friend of the parents, you have to make sure your gift is one of the best they receive. By ‘best’ I mean that it should be useful to them in some way. If you need baby gifts, then there are plenty of great things you can find online.

My suggestion is to get items of clothing that are personalized, so they’re special, and the parents can use them in the future as a personal reminder of how small their baby is. But, there are also things like soft children's books that they’ll find useful when the little one gets older. Whatever you do, don’t get them something generic that’s not special or useful – that’s a surefire way to establish yourself as a lousy friend!

Help Them Out

One of the best things you can do as a best friend is to offer your services to your newly non-pregnant friend. It’s pretty clear that they’ll have loads on their plate, so they’ll happily take all the help they can get.

There are so many different things you can do for them as well – some of which involve the baby, others of which do not. If you have kids, and your best friend has looked after yours in the past, then offer your babysitting services to them as a way of recognition for when they did it for you. But, you could also do something simple like getting their shopping for them or mowing their lawn. Every little helps, and if you’re giving your friend some assistance, this means they have a bit of weight lifted off their shoulders.

Make Them Feel Beautiful

The time after giving birth is difficult for a lot of women as they can suffer all kinds of mental health issues like depression and anxiety. For some, they start to feel really down about their appearance as they feel like pregnancy has caused them to lose some of their natural beauty.

So, it’s your job as the best friend to shower them with compliments and remind them of how gorgeous they are. Try and put a smile on their face and you can prevent them from falling into a depressed slump about their post-partum appearance.

If your best friend has just had a baby, then here are some of the duties you should take upon yourself as one of their closest pals! Go on, be the best friend you can be!
